Autism Maps -- About
As the father of two sons, one of whom is now 13 and has autism, I started this website in the hope that by spatially mapping autism data, additional insight may be gained as the volume of data increases. Since I work in the Geographic Information Systems (GIS) field this seemed to be a natural extension for me... learning the open source GIS software and technology has been challenging, but rewarding.
My greatest wish is that as knowledge of autism increases there will be greater acceptance of all individuals living with autism and other types of disabilities and recognition of the contributions that these individuals make to their families and society.
